I believe in the power of art to heal my wounded soul. When women gather and create together powerful magic brews up. Its the kind of magic that moves mountains, changes laws, cares for the masses and heals hearts.
I write about art, creativity, audacious living and dancing barefoot through life to be more authentic, real and raw.
I am inspired by women who live their lives closer to the edge in a wildly, uncultivated authentic expression. I love to read about women who audaciously live and create from their inner feminine wisdom.
A little bit about me: I am an artist living in Bend, Oregon with my two adorable kids and incredible husband.
Besides being a traveller and an artist I can also call myself a Marine Corps Captain. I spent over 23 years moving in and out of the Marine Corps and I’m currently officially finished with the chapter. At times I can be sad knowing I can never go back but most of the time I’m perfectly happy with it. The Marine Corps is such a big entity energetically that I can override my own authentic expression just to be a part of it.
After spending time in war, I struggled with resolving all that I experienced and participated in. I’ve been on a seven year healing journey. I spent time in the VA Hospital for PTSD, have tried many therapies both western and alternative modalities. I think all of them helped in some way and showed up just when I needed them but none soothes my pain and heals my soul like art making can. I don’t make art to be famous or even to sell, I make art to heal my wounded soul.
I have good days and bad days. I keep creating more art, diving deeper into my soul always trying to find that authentic and true expression. Everyday I strive to let go of outward expectations of who I think people want me to be in order to find my true authenticity. I spend a lot of time quietly listening and waiting for the mud to settle. For clarity to emerge, or some form of it anyways.
I have a rich life filled with tons of love. I only share my inner demons with you as a way of being more vulnerable and in hopes of connecting on a deeper level to others. Perhaps by sharing from this place the art I share will be understood in a new way.
I’m proud of is finding love in a beautiful man, Larry, raising two beautiful kids to turn to their inner guidance always and to have a vision of what they would like to contribute to the world.
